The Reason Why the Car Turbocharger Failure

Currently, vehicles that go on the market bring a turbocharger as a standard part, but sometimes with time, this type of part can give us some failures.

To start, we will tell you some information about the turbochargers as well as their operation:
A turbocharger is a supercharging system of our engine that it does is provide more power to the car, without firing either consumption levels or pollution levels.

The operation of a turbo is something simple, and it simply helps to compress the air that enters the engine. So that it enters more of it and mixes with more fuel, increasing the amount of combustion and obtaining more power but, as we have said, without triggering consumption or pollution.

But, they were not going to be all advantages since this part of the car can suffer small damages that can cause serious damages that end up in failures in the turbocharger.

Some of the most common failures that our turbocharger can suffer are:

– Wear of the turbo reel: the turboshaft rotates on special bushings on the oil since a normal bearing would not withstand the temperature or the speed at which the shaft rotates, these bushings can deteriorate and cause oil leaks to the circuit of admission.

– Shaft clearance: the shaft we were talking about before can destabilize due to friction and break the tips of the turbine propellers; these small pieces can enter the intake circuit, causing even greater damage.

– Pressure leaks: the sleeves and clamps that tightly close our tube can deteriorate and produce changes in the pressure to which it subjected, producing abrupt variations in power.

All these failures can be detected and fixed in time before they cause major damage, and the repair price is triggered.

Certain factors indicate that the turbo may be failing but stopping them in time will be cheaper to repair and avoid future inconveniences:

– Blue smoke coming out of the exhaust: it could be due to oil leaks entering the intake circuit

– Abnormal whistles or noises in our car: it may be due to pressure leaks or shaft clearance, a fairly frequent factor in turbocharger failures.

– Power losses: undoubtedly one of the indications most related to failures in the turbocharger, and that can greatly affect the driving, making it a bit uncomfortable.

You can always use the option of changing the turbocharger completely, but if you do not want to spend so much money, you can resort to a repair of it.

There are certain pages specialized in this type of repairs such as turbo shop, turbochargers that you can buy, or you could even send your turbocharger for repair.

And you? Have you faulted with your turbocharger? If so, have you managed to fix it?
