A Guide to Change 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Fog Light

We’re going to replace fog light on a 1996 c4 Corvette and this will be similar on all the C fours. The bulb size is a 894 and it’s pretty simple and straight forward. Let’s get down to business so what you need to do the job is a seven-millimeter socket with a ratchet. I’m replacing both bulbs so both bulbs you don’t want to touch with your bare hands plus the oils if they get on the bulb will mess it up and shorten the lifespan, so I have a glove.

We’re going to change this one out, there’s the bolt you could kind of see it’s this opening that’s going to swing down for you and that’s seven millimeter, so let’s unscrew that now. Take the bolt out, the fog light is in it, you just twist it counterclockwise you’ll feel it and then you wiggle it up.

There’s your bulb and the filament on that bulb is completely broken, so give you an idea, this thing could flex pretty good so don’t be too concerned. I wouldn’t go past about 45 degrees but you can easily get your hand in to get this off. You just get your thumb in or a screwdriver or whatever and you can see there’s two of them, you just pry them apart and then pull down that pull that out.

For the new bulb, use your glove now take the foam cover off handle the bulb gently just push it in. It only goes in one way so with the new bulb you can see the hole, the lights coming out of it so that’s where you put it in. You feel it till it clicks in and then you turn it clockwise, now that is probably hand tighten it first snug it down, get it so it’s snug it’s like that good now you’re done.

Let’s see what the lights look like, that is how you change a fog light in a c4 Corvette nice and simple. Both foglights have been changed to the new bulbs and it looks pretty good I like them, they’re white instead of the yellowish color.
